Here is some Friday love for you! You have often heard me say that love is not simply a warm and fuzzy emotion. Love is an action, and it sometimes asks us to deny ourselves and to lay down our lives. This type of action includes laying down our presuppositions on issues, our preconceived notions about people, our opinions about politics, and our stances on social structures that protect us. Love is listening, listening to one another, listening to the cries of the oppressed, and especially listening to the one who has come to us in the name of love. Jesus is love and has shown us love, and His way speaks a very important word to us on the issue of racism and justice. Instead of writing this all out, a link is provided below for a video message from me. Love isn’t always easy, and it often times demands something from us. And may we never forget….Jesus understood love as demanding His life. May it be so!
